But, through my individual event in Business Professionals of America (BPA), Office Systems and Procedures, I learned how to effectively use Microsoft applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. I took this skill and applied it to my internship at Microsoft and my student program with NASA. Microsoft Office, overall, has been very beneficial to me.
I learned Java to get to know the basics of programming. Then, I started using Python to incorporate AI chatbots that could do things like diagnose patients based on their symptoms and let people know whether an item is recyclable or not. I also used HTML, CSS, and Javascript to create different websites for competitions and my own personal needs.
In my engineering class during my sophomore year, PLTW Intro to Engineering and Design, I learned and strengthened my skills in 3D design using Autodesk Inventor. Then, I used those skills and transferred them to my 6 month program with NASA. In this course, I designed and modeled tools for astronauts and a Mars rover for the final project.
I have hands-on experience with Arduino and circuitry, using microcontrollers to design and build functional projects. My skills include wiring circuits, programming Arduino boards, and troubleshooting hardware systems, allowing me to bring creative ideas to life with practical solutions. I have created various circuits, such as a random number generator, a miniature piano, and more.
I achieved this award by earning a passing score on both the AP Seminar and AP Research exams and also on 4 additional AP exams.
I received this award for helping the city of Frisco with various different volunteering events for 50+ hours during the summer.
I received this award for helping my community with various different volunteering events, such as litter pick-ups and marathons for 100+ hours from 2022-2023 & 2023-2024
I met the national standards for Centennial High School's NHS chapter and have become a member of the program. I also met the standards for Centennial High School's chapter of Spanish Honor Society based on proficiency in the Spanish language (3 years of Spanish with 90's and above in each semester).
I competed in Website Design Team for BPA and qualified to compete in the State Leadership Conference. At the State Leadership Conference, we competed and were the first national alternate (4th place) for the National Leadership Conference.
I competed in Basic Office Systems and Procedures in BPA and qualified to compete in the State Leadership Conference as I got 3rd place in the Regional Leadership Conference.
With a team, I competed in Web Application Team for BPA and we were national alternates for the National Leadership Conference.
This certification demonstrates my proficiency in essential engineering principles, including problem-solving, mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and safety procedures
Throughout this internship/mentorship, I gained both technical skills and soft skills. First off, I learned how to create web applications through a library in python (Streamlit). I also learned how to create and incorporate my own artificial intelligence chatbot into my python web application. Through this internship, I have not only improved my coding abilities but also developed strong communication and problem-solving skills.
As the president of this volunteering organization, I coordinated many service projects such as litter cleanups, elementary school dances, food drives, marathons, and many more in order for members to not only gain hours, but also to make a positive impact on the community.
My team and I competed against other teams in the nation to build a model rocket that could reach a target altitude and other challenges. During this project, we learned the importance of the design process and taking time to carefully plan how the rocket would be constructed and launched.
This six month virtual program by NASA taught me more about aerospace engineering as well as different topics such as space exploration and aeronautics. After the 6 month virtual program, I was selected to participate in the Moonshot experience. During Moonshot, we were tasked with creating a Mars/lunar rover, modelling the rover in CAD, and creating a presentation based on research we did on the rover within the one week that was given to us.
My team and I had competed in Website Design Team and Web Application Team, within BPA based on a prompt given to us at the start of the BPA sessions in September. We created three different websites over our 2 years in these two events so that we can showcase our knowledge of website development (both front end and back end) and design.
Participated in a one week experience at UC Berkeley in order to learn more about engineering principles such as breadboarding, coding, and designing from the end of June 2024 to the start of July 2024. Before this experience, I participated in a virtual multi-week experience of exploring 12 engineering fields through presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on activities with the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
With a team, I competed in Web Application Team for BPA and we were national alternates for the National Leadership Conference.
